Frequently asked questions
Profile
Can I change my profile type?
No. Once a profile is created, its type can't be changed: no such switch exists in the profile settings or the account settings. If you picked the wrong type, you need to delete the account and register again.
The profile type shapes nearly everything around it. Search filters and compatibility matching depend on it. Verifying a couple profile confirms both partners; verifying a solo profile confirms one. With a couple profile, you choose whose name each message goes out under. Most importantly, every like and every conversation was addressed to a profile of a specific type: someone who wrote to a solo profile made that decision about a solo profile. A retroactive type switch would leave those connections resting on wrong information. Gramsy works because everything that matters is stated honestly before the first message, which is why the type of an existing profile can't be changed.
If you picked the wrong type, here's what to do:
- Delete the account in the account settings — "How do I delete my account?" shows where to find the button. Deletion has a 30-day cancellation window.
- If you don't want to wait out the 30-day cancellation window, contact support and we can speed that up. You can still reach us after you've requested deletion.
- After deletion, both your email address and your linked Telegram become available again. Sign up again and pick the right option on the first step of profile creation: "Personal profile" or "Couple profile".
If a moderator has already suspended your account with the reason "wrong profile type", there is no need to go to settings: the "Delete account and start over" button is right on the suspension screen, along with a link to support.
How do I delete my profile?
There is no separate button for deleting a profile. The profile and the account are tied together: each account has one profile, so removing the profile while keeping the account is not possible.
Usually the wish behind the question is a different one: to disappear from view. There is a switch for that. Open your profile editor and go to the "Settings" section — these are the settings of the profile itself, separate from the account settings. Turn off "Profile active": your profile is then hidden from everyone but you, it does not appear in search, and nobody can start a new conversation with you. Nothing is deleted in the process. Photos, texts and conversations stay where they are, and you can switch the profile back on at any time.
If you want your data gone altogether, that happens through account deletion: the profile goes with it. The steps are in "How do I delete my account?".
Account
How do I delete my account?
The delete button sits in your account settings — the account's, not the profile's. Go to your account area, click your account at the bottom of the side menu and choose "Settings" (on a phone the menu opens with the button in the top left corner). On the "Account" tab, scroll to the bottom of the page: there you will find the "Danger zone" section with the "Delete account" button.
Next, the system checks that it is really you. If you have a password set, it asks for it; if you sign in through Google or Telegram and have no password, it sends a six-digit code to your email or Telegram. The code is valid for 15 minutes.
After you confirm, the account enters a 30-day cancellation window. If you change your mind, sign in and press "Cancel deletion": your profile, conversations and settings come back exactly as they were. Once that period is over, the account is erased for good, and both the email address and the Telegram link are freed up — you can sign up again with either. Some service records are kept — security logs, the deletion report, support requests; which ones and for how long is described in the Privacy Policy (sections 6 and 6a).
If you would rather not wait the 30 days, deletion can be sped up: contact support. Support stays available after you request deletion: the deletion status screen has a link to it.
